Last year you were hit by a very unpleasant injury that stopped you for a while in KHL. Can you describe it?
It was very complicated with my foot. It was all good in November last year, but around Christmas I had to have pads and screws in my leg that then went out again, so I had terrible pains. Before the match, I was lying on the droplets so that it did not hurt. I swallowed pills like smarties, it was crazy. Fortunately, I went to surgery afterwards and could play in January.

Was it a shock to learn that there would be no further contract at Barys Astana?It wasn’t a shock, but I don’t mean to expect it and somehow admit it. I was sad because I felt physically comfortable in the summer and my leg was healthy. The season was not so bad for my health when I look at the numbers. I wanted to fight for a place in the KHL and show up, but it didn’t work out.

I am looking forward, it is something new again, I will adapt to how it works here and how hockey is played. We’ll see, hopefully it will be good. Nothing surprised me yet. The puck is as black as everywhere else. (laughter)
